Asset Finance Solutions (UK) Ltd was established as an asset finance brokerage. Seeing the hard work, costs and time that was needed to create a successful brokerage, the founders, Nick Simpson and Justin Ford quickly realised their passion lay in helping others successfully navigate this difficult path. They wanted to increase the choice of SME funding options by creating a network of highly professional asset finance brokers who could focus on the most rewarding part of the job, working with customers and securing the funding they needed.
The publication of the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) rulebook served as a catalyst for change. We appointed our first Compliance Officer and began carefully preparing for the FCA’s new, and far stricter credit regulations.
A full two years before the FCA’s 2014 takeover Asset Finance Solutions (UK) Ltd was laying the groundwork that would make us the most informed, the most capable and the most compliant Principal in the market.
We achieve Principal Status in January, establishing AFS Compliance Ltd as the leading Principal for FCA compliance. We then launched Synergy Commercial Finance Ltd to support brokers in the commercial finance market. Both businesses became part of AFS Group Holdings Ltd, alongside Asset Finance Solutions (UK) Ltd.
The Group operates with 50 employees across three brands and locations and partners with over 350 funders to generate more than £1.6bn in annual business lending, vital to the UK economy. The leadership team, including Nick, Justin, and Mike, mentors the next generation of finance brokers through one-on-one meetings, reviews, and a robust learning and development program. "Broker in a Box" has evolved to include all the essential elements for any asset finance business. Now in our 20th year of trading the company continues to innovate, listening to the market and its Appointed Representatives to deliver tailored services and support.

The Group also celebrates being shortlisted for 4 Finance Connect Summer awards including Excellence in Compliance, Excellence in Technology, SME Growth Partner & Large Asset Broker. AFS Compliance goes on to win the Excellence in Compliance Award.
