This years Annual Conference was a day to remember!
The 13th Asset Finance Solutions (UK) Ltd Annual Conference blasted off to a great start last Monday at the sensational Oakley Court Hotel in Windsor, in what can only be described as stunning weather conditions in a stunning location. Everyone who attended the annual conference expressed that the day was fun, action packed and one to remember! It started with a full morning networking and then moved onto informative presentations from Nick Simpson, Managing Director followed by Adam Guttridge from the Federation of Small Businesses.
The conference, that was generously sponsored by our eight Evo funder partners: Aldermore, PCF Bank, Wesleyan Bank, Haydock Finance, Paragon, Metro Bank, Arkle Finance and Investec/Quantum, was formally opened by Nick Simpson, who, in addition to detailing the latest funder facts also ran through the highlights of the opening six months of the year. These included a staggering 3209 deals completed totaling over £179m in asset-based lending advances. He also congratulated the Group on its recent award-winning successes that included the Red Rose Awards 2019 – Financial Services Award Winners and at the Business Moneyfacts Awards 2019 – Asset Finance Broker of the Year Highly Commended.
Guest speaker Adam Guttridge from the FSB confirmed that all AFS Franchisees have been enrolled as new FSB members and outlined all the benefits that accompany membership; regular networking events, support and protection for members relating to staff issues, full range of legal, tax and health support, insurance protection, free business banking – “FSB membership is just like having your own HR department”.
Prior to the conference we asked our network for charity nominations for AFS to support during 2019/2020. The Directors had an exceedingly tough decision to choose 3 charities they thought would benefit the most from the donations but agreed on SANDS, British Heart Foundation and Alzheimer’s Society as the final charities. During the conference, our guests were each presented with an orange token and were asked to place their tokens into their preferred charity. Each charity seemed to do well, but SANDS charity just ‘pipped’ the other charities and in 2020 when the final amount of money raised for 2019/20 is announced, the money will be split with SANDS gaining 44%, Alzheimers 31%, and British Heart Foundation 25% of the votes.
I think everyone who attended will agree that the daytime event at the Annual Conference, ‘It’s a Knockout’, organised by Off Limits, really went down a treat. The event ranged from inflatable hurdles, wet sponges and even a foam slide. Don’t just take our word for it, here’s what some of our guests had to say
“Thank you to AFS for another fabulous conference. It’s always great to get together and catch up with other people within the group and the Knockout made for a really fun group activity.”
“Absolutely brilliant day. Great to meet everybody and catch up soon!”
“A conference as they used to be. Part business, networking and great fun.”
However, we must congratulate the yellow team for winning ‘It’s a Knockout’ Well done to all who participated.
After a remarkably active day, it was time to move into the evening entertainment and all the guests had the pleasure to attend the Winsor Racecourse. For most of the guests it was a great chance to liaise with other Franchisees and funders to discuss future business opportunities. As for others, Monday night saw a handful of people walk away from the races more affluent than when they arrived!
Thank you to all our Evo Funders for hosting the networking event in the morning and to everyone that helped make the Annual Conference as successful as it was.
